The TSU Campus Master Plan resulted from Texas Southern University recognizing the need for a planning effort to provide for a growing student population rising from 5,900 Full-Time Enrollment (FTE) to 10,000 FTE in the following ten years.
L-DS developed a master plan that translated the academic plan into specific department areas for basic and non-basic components of the curriculum. Needed department areas were compared against existing space to determine additional space needs. These needs were converted into buildings and the buildings were sited on the campus. Planning included migration of the Campus into the neighborhood.
L-DS undertook an urban design effort to create a visual theme for the campus. The study effort included extensive meetings with staff, students, department heads and the university’s administration.
