The City of San Antonio Aviation Department commissioned the firm to study the land use and development implications related to the growth of the San Antonio International Airport. The ultimate purpose of the study was to develop an innovative land use plan that incorporated practical methods of noise mitigation, land acquisition and air front development resulting in revenue generation appropriate for the airport. Air front possibilities include transient housing, retail and other FAA approved compatible uses. Also studied was the relocation of non-compatible uses such as schools, assembly facilities and hospitals.
Study tasks also identified and proposed recommendations for preparation of new land use regulations and other actions that would enhance the safety, compatibility and embrace the usefulness of land in the immediate vicinity of the airport, while accommodating economic growth.
