Legacy Community Health Services, a non-profit organization housed at various locations in inadequate quarters, launched a drive to consolidate and expand its facilities.
Working with the Clinic’s Board, L-DS prepared a series of evaluations of alternate sites and buildings and wrote grant applications for funding the expansion program. Ultimately, Legacy Community Health Services selected and then purchased a vacant two-story building located in the inner city. The building contained 12,600 square feet (including an open courtyard).
The scope called for rehabilitation and expansion of the building, construction of a surface parking lot, and creation of a memorial to AIDS victims. The renovated facility, Montrose Campus, provides 15,000 SF of space for examination, treatment, education and administration. Support functions include laboratory, pharmacy and phlebotomy rooms. The courtyard was enclosed to provide a generous lobby space for the public.
