Llewelyn-Davies Sahni, in conjunction with M. Paul Friedberg & Partners and the Ramos Group, prepared plans for the revitalization of the Kansas City 12th Street Corridor. This important corridor connects cultural, convention, hotel and major public office development to the central downtown retail core.
Work included the preparation of alternative concept plans that emphasized the impact of proposed infrastructure and streetscape development on the downtown business district. These plans were evaluated in working sessions with representatives of public and private sectors. Detailed development of the selected concept was then presented to City Council for approval.
A major emphasis of the work was the provision of an effective but flexible scheme which would provide incentive for potential future development, including a new hotel and a major downtown mixed-use commercial mall.
