This large home is a mixing of contemporary features within a structure that respects the neighborhood context. After a fire destroyed the existing Houston Bellaire Residence, the client wanted a new and improved replacement that would far exceed anyone’s’ expectations.
Upon entering the home, one is greeted with a large, tall and daylit space to one side, while open to a modern kitchen and dining room to the other. Hints of light tones, wood accents and minimal metal form a material palette that offers a sense of refinement to each of the spaces. Carefully chosen doors, millwork and gratuitous windows allow the entire home to enjoy natural light. These features are emphasized in subtle ways that won’t overwhelm occupants. Conveniences such as an elevator and secondary living space allow the client to meet the needs of her family. Powerful glazing and a metal roof achieve a modern look with matching energy efficiency.
