Llewelyn-Davies Sahni provided architectural services for the state-of-the-art environmental laboratory that provides both quality assurance testing for the city wastewater program and analytical testing for water quality monitoring.
The facility houses administrative offices, laboratories and sample collection operations for a staff of 81. Extensive landscaping including a wildflower meadow and a pond reflect the environmental mission of the facility. Both the pond and irrigation system are fed by discharge water from an adjacent treatment facility.
Office spaces maximize views of the landscape and are mechanically separated from the laboratory space allowing each to maintain their functionally distinct workspace qualities. Laboratory areas are planned on a module with clearly defined utility distribution systems enhancing flexibility. An adaptable laboratory furniture system helps reinforce this concept.
